100 Every Days Project
Thank you for joining me in visually documenting 100 days of our lives! I'm excited to see what we notice in the big and small events to the exciting and mundane moments and everything in between. My hope is that we get to experience more awe, wonder, and joy and discover more inspiration to fuel for our creativity.
There are many ways to approach this! I'll share my process below--use it as is or as a loose guideline. Feel free to make this project your own and do what feels best for you!
HOW IT WORKS
I start off with a blank canvas (watercolor paper) that has been sectioned off into 100 spaces using washi masking tape. The tape helps to separate the sections and provides a clean border once it's peeled off. It also makes for a fun and satisfying reveal at the end!
Each day I fill in a section--I don't have any rules for this and use a variety of materials and techniques depending on that specific day and what I feel inspired by and want to capture.
On the 101st day, I peel off the tape to reveal the final piece!
SUPPLY LIST
Here are the supplies I use for this project. Please note the links I'm sharing are affiliate links and I may earn a small commission if you choose to purchase from them. Thank you for your support!
-
Strathmore Watercolor Paper 400 Series, 130lb, 11x15"
- I cut the paper to be 11x14" so it fits in a standard sized frame
- I cut the paper to be 11x14" so it fits in a standard sized frame
-
JMI Basics Washi Tape 1/4" width
- I use this tape and paper combo because I know the tape will peel off without damaging the paper! If you use this tape with other paper, it might not work the same. I have had good luck with this tape though and it's worked on most papers I've tried--I always test a small piece / area first.

HOW TO TAPE YOUR PAPER
- Here is an in depth video tutorial. I create 21 sections in it but this is the exact technique I use for 100 sections.
- Here are a few shorter Instagram reels on the process for 100 sections:
- For this project I taped curved lines
- For this project I taped straight lines
HOW TO USE THE PROMPTS
The prompts are optional, use them as needed (but I think it'd be fun if we used the same prompts and see the different ways it's used and interpreted :)). If there are days you want to go off prompt, that's totally ok! I like using them so I have a starting point and it's been helpful for me to have something to focus on.
The prompts can be interpreted however you'd like--use them literally or figuratively, use the opposite word of the prompt, choose whether you want to use the noun/verb version of it, etc. I like looking at the prompt at the start of each day, then keeping it in mind throughout the day and see where it leads me.
A few questions you may want to ask when using a prompt:
- What do you associate with the prompt? What immediately comes to mind? What words, ideas, and things does the prompt make you think of?
- What's the definition of the prompt? Are there different meanings?
- Where can you find the prompt in your day? How can you apply it to your life?
- What tools / materials / techniques does the prompt remind you of?
EXAMPLES ON FILLING IN YOUR SECTIONS
You can find all 200 sections I've filled in from my past 100 Day Project on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. I explain why I'm filling in the section the way that I am and show the process. Here are a few ideas / tips for this part of the process:
- If you'd like more structure, choosing one specific method to use to fill in your sections (like all collages, all quick sketches, all junk journaling, etc.) per quarter can be helpful. You can also mix it up and do different things each day (this is my personal preference!)
- If you get stuck on figuring out how to turn an idea or inspiration into a visual, try zooming in and focusing on one detail, color, pattern, etc.
- It can be as simple or intricate as you'd like it to be. Do what fits for your time frame and energy level.
- Try different materials, do things you haven't done before. Don’t be afraid to try new things but don’t let it stress you out, this should be fun! :)
- If you hate your section (which happens to me all the time!), I highly recommend letting it sit with you and see how you feel the next day. This is a good exercise for all my fellow perfectionists out there :) It's never as bad as I think it is! This project is really about the process and you created something in that moment in time that will never be done again in the exact same way! That’s special, even if it didn’t turn out how you like. If you absolutely hate it, cover it or start over by cutting out a piece of paper that’s the size & shape of the section to glue over it.
A FEW OTHER NOTES
- Find a spot to leave your project so it's easy for you to work on every day. I have cleared a part of my desk for it and also taped it to the wall next to my desk.
- Completely optional but I think it's fun to take some progress photos as you go (like every 25 days.)
- Here's a recap of my 2024 and 2025 projects for an overview
- I've written a few posts about the 100 Day Project and got to be a guest on the podcast and a guest contributor (day 8-14)!
