100 Day Project: 2021, 2022, 2022-2023, 2023
It's that time of year again!!! The 100 Day Project is starting up again and I'm excited to be embarking on another hundred day creative journey! Another blank page, starting again at day 1, not knowing how this piece will end up--I can't wait to get started!
My project this year is going to be a culmination of everything I learned from my past projects so far:
My first project helped me build a meditation practice that I've been doing as consistently as possible ever since (it's not perfect but it's more than I've ever done before! :)) I began with 5 minutes and am now comfortable with up to 20 minutes.
That project also made me realize I like trying new ways to use paint and applying it to the canvas with unconventional tools like a waffle! (Thank you Cherise for that suggestion, it's still one of my favorites!)
My second project helped me embrace color! And in addition to acrylic paints, I also used watercolors, markers, and different types of ink. I also used prompts for this which I thought was not only fun but helpful in giving me a theme for each day.
The third project was all created with paper! I had so much fun switching up mediums and taking on the challenge of using paper in different ways. I also incorporated embroidery thread, weaving, and other techniques.
Now, I want to put all of that together!
My 2023 project is 100 Days Meditate & Make.
I'm going to meditate for 15 minutes each day then make a mark, imprint, collage, stroke, etc. onto my piece of paper. This year I'm going bigger and working on a 16" x 20" piece of Strathmore watercolor paper! I'm hoping this will provide more space and allow for bigger brush strokes and movement. I'll also be embracing mixed media and plan on using paint, markers, ink, paper, stamps, and more for this piece!
I want to use prompts again for this project and will be working on making a deck of prompt cards! I've actually had this idea for awhile and hope I can use this opportunity to make a sample, refine it, and offer it in my shop in the future as both a digital download and a physical deck! I think it'll be an awesome tool to have on hand or to gift that will spark creativity, ideas, and expression.
I feel like this is what my past 100 day projects have led me to and I cannot wait to see how it all comes together!
The 100 Day Project officially begins on Feb 22nd this year. I'll actually be out of town so I will begin sometime in mid-March (which also gives me a bigger break since I finished my collage not too long ago in January!)
