Finding inspiration in one of my favorite songs & lyrics - Heaven Is A Harley by Tiger La Flor.
For February’s Creative Spark Challenge prompt, I chose “artist” and created a piece inspired by musical artist Tiger La Flor. This song has been on repeat and I love the melody and really connect with the lyrics. While I don’t ride a Harley :), I love the idea of being free and of coming back to and knowing your true self.
“I’m done chasing all the wrong things / That open road has come to call me / Got the wind in my hair and my worries in the rear view / I’m not attached in the way I used to / Better when I’m set free"
The layers include: ink background, lyrics in pen, abstract acrylic paint swipes inspired by the shape of a Harley, watercolor blown into streaks, my favorite lyrics in black marker, and some more paint swipes and splatters.
I used pink to represent the softness in the song, black to represent the strength, and silver to add some shine and lightness.
I felt like I needed to make this on bigger paper but will take a pic, resize and print it out to add to my sketchbook.
When I showed this piece to my friend Quinny, he said it looked like the Harley was breaking through debris and the debris is turning into rose petals and I really loved his perspective!
It was fun to experiment and get lost in this song!
